Frequently
Asked

Questions

1. Why choose highland dancing?

Highland dancing is the perfect combination of art and sport. Boys and girls of all ages and skill levels perform and compete together throughout the year. It promotes quality family time and gives plenty of opportunity to travel worldwide. Dancers build life long friendships, learn sportsmanship, build self confidence, and develop skills that give them valuable experiences that can have a positive impact throughout their lives.

2. Where do you teach?

We teach out of Planet Ice in Coquitlam. We also offer small group lessons and private lessons in Port Coquitlam.

3. What age do you teach?

We teach ages 3 to adult, from beginners to experienced competitive dancers. Dancers as young as 3 can learn basic movements in a fun and supportive environment.

4. What attire do you need to attend class?

We ask our students to wear tight fitting clothing (body suit, shorts, tank top) with hair tied back. No loose baggy clothing. Although new students are not required to purchase highland dancing shoes for their first lesson, we do encourage purchasing highland dancing shoes. Shoes are available at Tartantown in Port Coquitlam for approximately $50.

5. When can I register for dance classes?

We accept new students at anytime throughout the year. Email Fiona at fionaleedance@gmail.com for information.

6. Is it a requirement for dancers to attend competitions?

No, students are not required to compete. We have plenty of fun performance opportunities throughout the community for our recreational dancers.
